Nursing 181 Medical Surgical I (99 hours) & Nursing 183 Medical Surgical II (99 hours)

Provided bedside care, treatment, and clinical documentation for patients on the orthopedic, telemetry, and medical surgical floors; shadowed a registered nurse in the emergency department and operating room. Performed thorough assessments and safely administered medications via all routes. Performed dressing changes as well as urinary catheter insertions, checked blood sugars, and started IV’s.

Nursing 182 Obstetrics/Pediatrics (99 hours)

Provided bedside care, treatment and clinical documentation for patients on the postpartum floor. Performed thorough assessments on both mother and newborn, safely administered medications, taught new mother’s proper breast feeding techniques, and rendered newborn care.  Administered immunizations in the pediatric clinic and shadowed a nurse in the labor and delivery unit and newborn nursery.

Provided bedside care, treatment, and clinical documentation for patients on the telemetry and psychiatric units. Performed thorough assessments, safely administered medications via all routes, strengthened my skills with IVP and IVPB medications as well as the alaris pump, and planned and implemented activities for the clients in the BHU. Also, shadowed a registered nurse in the intensive care unit, cardiac cath lab, interventional radiology, and the hospital’s wound clinic.

Provided bedside care, treatment, and clinical documentation for patients on the telemetry floor. Performed thorough assessments, safely administered medications via all routes, and strengthened my immunization skills while participating in a flu immunization clinic. Shadowed a registered nurse in the intensive care unit and emergency department.
